In 2019, and again in 2021, I was dealt a few curveballs. My mother died of cancer and my father of a cardiac event. To commemorate their lives, I commissioned a few artists to sketch some old photos of each of them. I launched them as an NFT collection in early 2021. The mint generated roughly $4k USD, of which I donated everything to American Cancer Society and American Heart Association via Crypto for Charity. I later received a hand-written note from the American Heart Association thanking me for my generosity and inviting me to the 2022 Annual Heart Ball. I went to the event and auctioned another NFT which the proceeds were also donated to charity. The event took place at the University of Michigan football stadium, in the Jack Roth suite.
